Transport
Our flight escort program is essential for connecting our rescued cats with loving families across Europe. Often, tourists returning home from Mykonos volunteer as flight escorts, helping to transport our cats to their new homes outside of Greece. This program plays a crucial role in facilitating adoptions for families living abroad. You're only responsible for the pet for the duration of your flight, making it a short but vital contribution.
Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Sign up
Fill out our flight escort application to express your interest in becoming a flight escort.
Step 2: Pet Ticket
Once approved, we'll assist you in booking a pet ticket online using your provided flight details. The cost of the ticket will be reimbursed to you upon arrival at the airport.
Step 3: Day of Flight
A volunteer from our organization meets you at the airport with the cat to assist with check-in and ensure everything is in order for the cat's travel.
Step 4: Arrival
Upon arrival at the destination, you'll meet the new family and hand over the cat along with the pet passport.
Airlines that don't allow pets include EasyJet, Ryanair, WizzAir

"I recently had the pleasure of transporting cats for Mykonos Cats, and I cannot speak highly enough of Anna and the dedicated volunteers. They made the process incredibly smooth and hassle-free. Everything was meticulously organized, from the paperwork to the travel arrangements, ensuring a stress-free experience for both the cats and me. The team's passion and commitment to these animals are truly commendable. I highly recommend supporting this wonderful organization."

"When we went to Mykonos, we had no idea we would be escorting two kittens to their forever home in Zurich. I love cats, so I searched for local rescues to find out more about the current situation and if there was any way we could help. One of the ways they could have been helped was to escort cats to their adoptive families, so we decided to do just that! The process was very smooth, Anna was in touch all the time, showed up at the airport with all the documents, pet carrier and instructions, so all we had to do was to take the kittens with us through security and into the cabin and meet the adopter upon arrival. This is a small step for us but a big one for the cats and kittens as this might be their only opportunity to get a chance of having a better life, so if you can please help!"

"I've had the joy of escorting kittens three times now, and each journey has been incredibly fulfilling. The task itself is quite simple, but the impact of bringing these kittens to their forever homes is huge.
One of the best surprises has been the kindness and support from strangers at the airport. People often go out of their way to assist, whether it's offering to help with my bags or giving up their seat when they see the kittens.
It’s a small effort that makes a big difference, and I can't recommend it enough to anyone who wants to make a positive impact."

"Very uncomplicated handling and communication in Mykonos, no extra work or time for me as a flight escort, adopted kitten were brought with a passport to the airport, Kitten was very relaxed and most of the time sleeping in the cabin during the flight, I was in touch with mykonos cats ( Anna) and the adopter all the time in case I had any questions and to keep each other updated, the adopter was well chosen and even send photos of the kitten once he got home. I would always do it again because it is very emotional to be part of a journey from a stray cat that got a chance for a better life in such a simple way by being a flight escort."
